Thank you for making us very welcome - Sep 16, 2019
Thank you for making us very welcome to your beautiful Riad. Our check in with Jamal was fantastic and he is a great host with lots of local knowledge he was very happy to share with us and make sure that we have a enjoyable time and safe travels through Marrakesh. Our night manager Mohammed was also always at hand to help with anything we could wish for. All in all the staff went above and beyond to make our stay in Marrakesh a great experience and we will highly recommend it to everyone we know. Besides that, the Riad itself was outstanding, very clean, close to all amenities and local markets... and serving a great breakfast every morning. We will definitely be back. Thank you everyone for making us feel so welcome.« less ...

Hotel staff Robbed us during our stay! - Sep 14, 2019
THEFT in Riad Anya. I reserved Riyad Anya, in Marrakech Morocco, for 4 nights from 28 of August to 1st of September 2019, first night when we arrived to the Riad for check in, we asked the reception about a Sahara desert tour. There were two men working and they said they have a company that they arrange the Sahara desert tour with. We negotiated a price and I told the receptionist that it’s late at night and if the Sahara desert company can exchange my money from US dollars to Durham’s. He said no problem they will help you in the morning. The next morning on the 29th we had the Sahara desert company picking us up in the morning at 7am. We had breakfast. I was traveling with 2 other individuals and together we had $3190. I didn’t feel safe to take all that money to the dessert so we kept the money in our luggage. I specifically told the hotel receptionist I don’t want anyone cleaning my room until I check out. He said no problem and took the keys (which was strange but he said they keep the keys). At 7am on the 29th, we left for the Sahara desert. We were gone for one night and and two days. Upon return we got our keys and headed to our room. First thing we noticed our luggage’s and pack backs where moved. I opened my luggage and inside of my luggage was messy and my money which was $2500 which I put inside was stolen. Also my sister had $690 in her bag and was also stolen. Then we told immediately to reception with a lot of emotions and anxiety. This was our money for our whole trip and it was all gone. The receptionist reinsured us everything will be alright and they will review the cameras in the morning as they have cameras in the riad. This reinsurance gave us a peace of mind that night. Come to find out the morning of 30th of Aug that they are going to investigate the issue and come with a solution. We are still hopeful and being patient and we have been lied to. They were not checking no cameras. They were just keep us busy until our check out date comes. The manager lady was very rude and NOT Remorseful. She did not care what happened to us or didn’t offer any sympathy or assistance. She kept saying I don’t speak English. She kept telling us to give her sometime to review the camera. At this point we were robbed of our money and now our experience. We didn’t get to experience Marrakesh because the next few days we were depressed and going back and forth with the Riad staff. The staff kept lying to us by saying we are checking the cameras. They were not giving us any direction or solution. At one point we spoken to the maid that cleaned our room. She claimed she had not stolen the money. She confirmed that when she arrived at our room our door was already opened. This means If it was not her then it must have been one of the other Riad staff. I made sure I closed our door before leaving and the receptionist guy even saw me lock our room that day. The also very strange part is when the next day the 31st of August we spoke with the manager ( now she know a little bit of English), she said since we lost our money and we don’t go back home for two weeks she is willing to accommodate us for the next two weeks. We can stay at the Riad/hotel for two weeks for free and food included. This is when I knew they were not giving our money back. Why would they offer us free stay for two weeks if they didn’t Rob us. We took matters into our hands and involved the police. We spent the next 2 days waiting for answers and working with the police. Our case is still not solved. I emailed the hotel owner and he replied saying “Although having full confidence in my staff, it seems very imprudent to leave a sum of over $ 3000 in a hotel room” again not even sorry and siding with his staff without being sympathetic. During this whole process, the staff of the hotel/Riad were very rude and disrespectful. They didn’t care that we lost money. They kept speaking Arabic to each other. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Getting robbed in a foreign country and no one there to help you was a trauma experience. I hope no one ever experiences this. Other staff members told us Also this case has happened in this hotel before and it’s not a new scenario. I write this review for other travelers to be aware about thieves in this Riad Anya. Don’t stay here I made the mistake of staying here and I am living with the consequences.« less ...

You home in Marrakech - Jul 7, 2019
We spent 4 days in Marrakech for a wedding and we decided to stay in a Riad not to far away from the main square. The position was great as it is almost accessible by car (only 200 m walking from the dropping point) which is exceptional when you are in the medina. The staff was amazing and super helpful and friendly, they really made us feel home. The riad overall looks great, good decoration and in well condition, you have a nice lounge ground floor and a terrace overlooking at the Medina and Mamounia garden« less ...
