Good Location, Beautiful Building - Jun 7, 2019
My wife and I stayed here for two nights in late April, ‘19. We liked it very much for its location, comfort, and service, and definitely recommend it. It is a just a short distance from one of the city gates nearest the beach, yet it is also near the main shopping and restaurant area of the medina. The building is a very attractive large 4- story Dar – an open courtyard in the center with rooms on each floor accessed by a balancy arount this core. The courtyard is a very pleasant place to relax and has a bar off to one side and the main restaurant off to another. Our room (#33) was on the third floor. There is no lift, so this might be difficult for those with physical challenges. Luggage is handled for you, however, so that isn’t a problem. Like most dars and riads, the main source of light for most rooms is the central atrium. This makes those rooms somewhat dark. The exceptions are the corner rooms, which ours was, and these often have windows both directions. Our room was very large and had attractive Moroccan style furniture. There was a comfortable king-sized bed, two night stands, a free-standing closet, and an armoire with a safe. There was also a bureau, a small divan, and a bench at the foot of the bed. There was no a.c. but this probably isn’t needed (Essouria is noted for its cool climate). There was, however, a small protable heater. Wifi was strong and fast in the room. The large bathroom was decorated with attractive pink marble and had a separate toilet room. There was a large shower, plenty of counter space for toiletries, and good lighting.Breakfast is served either on the 4th floor terrace/bar or in the ground floor main restaurant, depending on the number of guests and the weather. We ate on the terrace one morning and in the restaurant the other. In both instances it was very good – extensive offering of fruit, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and eggs to order. The Dar L’Oussia is an excellent choice for a stay in this charming town. The only downside might be the lack of a lift for some guests.« less ...

Nicely Embellished, great service - Jun 6, 2019
We really enjoyed our two night here. Our room was so well decorated that we could have stayed a month. The bathroom was also large and rather luxurious with all the time and amenities. We loved the views from the roof top but the breeze made it just a touch chilly. Nonetheless, this was a fabulous hotel with unique rooms and a terrific courtyard from which we enjoyed dinner and the dancers. The henna painting was also a kick.« less ...

Gem of a hotel in a delightful town - Jun 5, 2019
My wife and I stayed in this hotel during a recent trip to Morocco. The Raid style hotel was quite a surprise. Small, but delightfully decorated in the common areas. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. There is a certain noise level that permeates all rooms from the common "atrium" area in the center of the building, but we found that at all Riad style hotels. The meals that had in the hotel were good, with professional service. As part of our tour, we had a cocktail reception and Gnawa entertainment which was very well received. Highly recommend that you visit Essaouira if you are going to Morocco and stay in this hotel.« less ...
