Don’t be fooled by the old reviews of this tired Riad .Book somewhere else . - Apr 24, 2019
We booked for 8 nights to do a kite surfing course at Easter. Booked an expensive suite so my son and I could have plenty of space together with two bedrooms. The room seemed fine on arrival but then we discover no shower ! Just a hand hold over the bath. They put a shower attachment on the wall which subsequently sprayed everywhere. The Riad is very nicely situated but that’s where the good points end. We agree with other reviews. There is no investment here and the top sun deck is just awful and shows lack of any care. No alcohol is served here .The rooms are hit and miss. The floors all creek and sleep is awful as everywhere is noisey. Seriously noisey !!! We had to change rooms due to the above floors keeping us awake as no insulation. It has so much potential but has clearly had no investment to keep it up to date . The front desk are rude and don’t care about WiFi not working. The towels and dressing gowns all smell old and the place is damp. You will notice this as soon as you walk in.Breakfast is hit and miss. Same every day. Nothing special. The staff try their best but quality is very average. You won’t get a good nights sleep here as there is no sound proofing as all wood and will need ear plugs Such a shame as all looked great on the internet but I’d strongly avoid until they change the manager and invest in the place. We suffered from no shower. No WiFi. Damp Smells.impossible to sleep and just a rude manager. We asked to change room due to the nightmare to sleep and they charged us 1000 when they had spare rooms It’s a noisy tourist trap and run poorly Look elsewhere This is a true honest review.Samira E, Directeur général at Villa de l'O, responded to this review Cher client. « less

Attentively run hotel - Oct 28, 2018
Stayed 3 days in this lovely hotel. Staff were extremely attentive and surprised us with decorating our room and a cake for your 40 wedding anniversary made it very special. We upgraded to the roof room overseeing the beach. great views perfect setting for breakfast each morning. Hotel is well decorated and interesting especially considering its age. Good sleeping accommodation.Samira E, Directeur général at Villa de l'O, responded to this review C'etait un énorme plaisir pour nous de vous recevoir, esperant vous voir bientot.Merci pour votre gentil commentaire .A la prochaine « less

A comfortable hotel - a great location - Jun 15, 2018
The Viila de L'o has a beautifully authentic Arabian ambiance. The location is excellent - very close to the port (and the exciting fish markets), the beach, and the Medina. Breakfast on the balcony with the delightful view is of high quality. Highly recommended.Samira E, Directeur général at Villa de l'O, responded to this review Bienvenue, et au plaisir de vous recevoir « less

A beautiful hotel with a lot of charm - Apr 1, 2018
We stayed four days in this lovely Villa located just inside the walls of the medina. The place is beautifully decorated. the rooms are large and very clean. The terrace is comfortable with plexiglass railings which allows you to have full view of the ocean and enjoy watching children in the far distance playing soccer on the beach. Weather permitting they serve breakfast on the terrace. My only complaint is that from our room we could hear the walking back and forth on the terrace in the morning. If you are a light sleeper you might ask for a room on the second floor rather than on the third. We also like the public spaces where we could read and catch up on our correspondence. All in all a very beautiful hotel with lots of charm.« less

Seen better days - Feb 28, 2018
This well-located ca. 250 year-old Portuguese style courtyard townhouse recycled into a charming little riad is run by polite and helpful people. The décor is an eclectic coalition of elements from across many genres over much of the past couple centuries. The property might have been luxurious once and some aspects of it are quite appealing but others leave much to be desired and it’s getting very tired. English is just OK but you’ll do much better with French or Arabic. The good: our double suite unik/prestige king bed “L’Opium” is apparently the largest and most opulent lodging the hotel has to offer. It was reasonably clean, adequately roomy and has a bathroom is as large as a London hotel room. Most of what was expected was there and some of it worked as expected – read on for what didn’t. There were enough power outlets around the room to service our needs. It had a delightful outlook south-east along the city beach and esplanade. The included Wifi worked well on all our devices. One dinner and our breakfasts in the dining room/atrium were very agreeable with delicious food and attentive, capable service. There is, however, no alcohol available but BYO is OK. The not so good: although billed as a suite, our guest’ room was but a largish room with a few chairs and some other period or artistic pieces to fill out the space. The furniture was stylish enough for its period but impractical and mostly less than comfortable. The king bed was firm and the pillows (all of them) were voluminous and as unforgiving as a speed-bump. The lighting worked OK – for a while, and when it stopped took until the next day to fix. Screened off from the bedroom by a curtain, the bathroom was also eclectically furnished and embellished with peculiarly theatrical flourishes like a Cleopatra-style staircase into an elevated bathtub and a mirror that took its cues from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The shower head would mischievously spray water in every direction but where you were standing saturating everything but what you were washing. The overall ambience of the entire suite was one of ‘seen better days’. The annoying: we suffered a Fawlty Towers moment when the turn-down maid removed most of the items we had specially requested (cups, teapot and kettle) from the suite almost immediately after they were delivered. There has to be better places in town.« less
